Help for households campaign
The government has produced information to help you see what cost of living support you could be eligible for. This is at helpforhouseholds.campaign.gov.uk/

Claiming your government £400 energy grant
You can see information on when the government payment will be done and how it will be paid at www.gov.uk/government/news/energy-bills-support-scheme-explainer.
All households with a domestic electricity connection in Great Britain are eligible for the £400 discount. There is no need to contact energy suppliers concerning this.
- Households will never be asked for their bank details, and those with a domestic electricity connection will not need to apply
- the Energy Bills Support Scheme will deliver a £400 non-repayable discount to eligible households to help with energy bills from October
- There is no need to apply for the discount. Energy suppliers will deliver this support to GB households with a domestic electricity connection over 6 months from October 2022.
How you receive the discount
The £400 discount will be administered by suppliers and paid to consumers over 6 months with payments starting from October 2022, to ensure households receive financial support over the winter months.
- Households will see a discount of £66 applied to their energy bills in October and November, rising to £67 each month from December through to March 2023
- The discount will be provided on a monthly basis regardless of whether consumers pay monthly, quarterly or have an associated payment card
- There is no need to contact your supplier as all domestic electricity customers will be automatically eligible.
- Electricity bill payers should enquire with their supplier if they have not received their first instalment by the end of October.

National Energy Action
National Energy Action are working against fuel poverty, to ensure that everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is warm and safe at home.
NEA’s WASH Advice Service is a free support service providing advice to householders in England and Wales on their energy bills and keeping warm and safe in their home. We can also help with benefits advice and income maximisation. See www.nea.org.uk/get-help/wash-advice/
The Government has announced a series of one-off measures to help households with the high cost of energy this winter. These are:
- Low-income Cost of Living Payment
- Pensioner Cost of Living Payment
- Disability payment

Support and advice from Norfolk County Council
Norfolk County Council has a welfare rights unit. The support available can include checking you are receiving money you are entitled to, through to representing you at tribunal/appeal hearings.

Norfolk Assistance Scheme
If you are in financial hardship and struggling to pay your living costs, the Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) may be able to help you.
The Norfolk County Council scheme offers emergency financial help, such as food vouchers, and help with fuel or utilities, or with rent arrears. Norfolk Assistance Scheme can also provide essential household goods and furniture, along with giving support, guidance and advice about other support organisations that are available.
NAS has two categories of support. One for individuals of working age and one for individuals aged 65 and over. NAS is working in partnership with the Age UK Norfolk and Age UK Norwich for support aimed at the over 65s.
