Young adult carer holds a live Q&A session on The Mix

17th March 22

James, a member of our Norfolk Young Carers Forum, has held a Q&A in an Instagram live event on The Mix for #YoungCarersActionDay (16 March).

The young adult carer spent 50 minutes answering questions on his experiences of being a young carer, such as how to deal with the fear of missing out and how to make sure you look after yourself.

James, who is currently studying at Falmouth University, spoke openly and honestly about caring for his Mum. He encouraged young carers to seek help and support and not to feel they have to struggle alone.

He also added that being a young carer doesn’t mean you won’t be able to go university and made the point that when he arrived at his accommodation he already knew how to look after himself. Many of his housemates did not know how to use a washing machine.

Below is the full version of the Instagram live event.
