Caring Together letters to support people in their caring activities

3rd April 20

Caring Together logo-mid-sizeWe are offering carers we support in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area, a letter to help identify them as a carer. This can then be shown, if needed, when carrying out activities such as shopping to help the person they look after.

We are pleased the government has recognised the important role played by carers in some of the measures in place due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Government guidance specifically says that carers are able to leave the home ‘to provide care or to help a vulnerable person’. This includes activities such as shopping or collecting medication for the person they look after.

But we are also aware not everyone in the community, particularly staff in shops, understands the responsibilities carers may be carrying out to help the person they care for.

Therefore, we are making these letters available to carers we support, explaining their role and asking shop staff to support them in this, to make it easier for them to carry out their caring roles.

This letter is available to covers carers we support in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area as Caring Together is the charity commissioned by Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council to provide support to carers.

Whether you are a carer we are already supporting, or a carer who would like to know more about this and other support available please contact us at [email protected].
