20th January 21

We are pleased to announce Caring Together’s festive virtual ballon Trophyrace winner. The winner of the £25 gift voucher Stephanie, who is employed by Maxine Lester Lettings and Property Management, who have had us as their charity of the year and who partnered with us for the successful Christmas Hamper appeal. The virtual balloon racing festive fun launched on Christmas Day, in aid of supporting carers looking after a family member or friend.

Stephanie has said she is “delighted” she won with her winning balloon travelling the distance of 448.297 km and that her other balloon came seventh! She has kindly asked that the £25 gift voucher is given to someone in need which will go towards supporting a carer in need in the local community.

With many creative balloons flying, the virtual race ran using live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon, flying many different ranges. With the balloons sold, we have raised over £700. This will go towards supporting carers looking after a family member or friend in communities across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk. This means we will be able to offer more carers the advice, practical and emotional support they need, particularly when facing tough times due to the pandemic.

Nicky Newton, Caring Together fundraising manager said: “This was the first time we had held a virtual balloon race and it was great to see so many people taking part.  We are thrilled by the fundraising total and we will be announcing the winner very shortly.  Thank you to everyone who took part and supported carers this Christmas.”

Miriam Martin, Caring Together chief executive said: “We know that the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions have had a huge impact on people looking after a family member or friend. It is all the more important that we are able to give them support they need at this time. Thank you to everyone who bought a balloon and donated.”
