New process for obtaining free personal protective equipment (PPE)

21st March 22

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced a new process for obtaining free personal protective equipment (PPE) for eligible primary care and social care sectors – such as unpaid carers, PA’s, supported living, extra care, day services, adult and child social workers and rough sleeping services.

From April 2022, requests for PPE are to be made using the new online PPE portal, which enables equipment to be sent to an address of your choice (this includes a home address for an upaid carer).

The new process is in line with the Government’s commitment to provide free PPE for the COVID-19 needs of the health, social care and public sector until March 2023, or until infection prevention control guidance is either withdrawn or substantially amended (whichever is sooner).
