The variety of organisations here underlines the importance of championing carers everywhere. Caring affects us all and these healthcare, educational and charitable organisations have all demonstrated innovative, meaningful ways of listening, including and supporting carers in the work that they do.
The team at Thomas Walker Westgate Healthcare (right) recognise the challenges that carers of all ages face in looking after loved ones and took part in the award to ‘encourage ourselves to set and achieve higher goals by being part of wider projects, such as this.’
Natalie Chandler, Head of People at Caring Together said, “It is extremely important we do our very best to support our people who juggle jobs or volunteering alongside caring. Making this work is something we’re really proud of and it has helped us retain some fantastic talent. The award also reminds us to consider the needs and views of carers as we develop new policies and initiatives.”
Schools are a massive part of growing up and play a vital role in reducing barriers to young carers’ attainment and wellbeing. It is fantastic to see so many delivering exceptional practice and making a real and positive difference by meeting the standards of the Carer Friendly Tick Award – Education.
Harry Gowlett, Teacher and Young Carer Champion at Sewell Park Academy, said ‘We are very proud to be awarded our Carer Friendly Tick Award once again.’ The school was assessed as excellent in every category, a remarkable achievement reflecting their wide-ranging commitment and support to young carers in the holidays as well as term time.”
Congratulations all, your commitment and support for carers is inspirational!
