The Sawtry Foodbank offers emergency food to residents of Sawtry and the surrounding villages who are in crisis. Local agencies, such as schools and health teams, identify individuals and families who are going hungry due to financial crisis and refer them to the foodbank team. They are then issued with a food parcel of emergency food, usually enough for up to three days. The service is run by volunteers who may also help with pointing people towards other agencies who could assist in finding longer term solutions. There are a number of collection points around Sawtry for donations of basic essential foods from the general public including one at the CARESCO Centre, the CARESCO Charity shop, Sawtry Co-op Foodstore, Sawtry Methodist Church and All Saints’ Church. The team can be contacted during session times only, on 07743 593863, or via the CARESCO office [email protected]
