Updated government PPE advice for people caring for someone

9th February 21

Are you caring for a family member or friend who you don’t live with? The government has updated its guidance on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for people in England who are caring for someone outside of their home.

The government now recommends that if you do not live with the person or people you care for, you wear PPE when delivering care. The type of PPE recommended varies depending on the type of care being provided. For more information you can read the guidance in full here.

The government has also announced a new scheme to offer PPE to people caring for a family member or friend outside of their home who are struggling to access it. PPE will be available until the end of June 2021 from Local Authorities (LAs) and Local Resilience Forums (LRFs). For more information about the scheme or how to access it in your local area, please click here.
