New Cambridge Singers have chosen Caring Together Charity as their charity partner for their 40th anniversary year.
They start with a wonderful programme of 17th Century music from Rome, featuring Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater with concerts at St Mary’s Church, Linton, on Saturday 31 October and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the English Martyrs (OLEM), Cambridge, on Saturday 7 November.
For their Christmas concerts at Jesus College Chapel, Cambridge, on Thursday 17 December and All Saints Church, Cottenham, on Saturday 19 December, New Cambridge Singers will perform a programme of jazz-inspired festive music.
In March 2027, the choir immerse themselves in Bach and the magic of counterpoint as conceived by more recent composers, and finally in June 2027, they will be performing Monteverdi’s masterpiece The Vespers of 1610.
At each concert, there will be an interval talk and a retiring collection for Caring Together Charity.
Caring Together Charity Community Fundraiser Lynnette Ballantyne said: “Support like this means so much to the charity. We support unpaid carers across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk and the people they care for, helping families who can often be carrying a huge amount of responsibility behind the scenes.
“As well as raising vital funds, partnerships like this help us reach more people, raise awareness of unpaid caring and make sure carers know that support is available.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the New Cambridge Singers for choosing Caring Together Charity as their Charity of the Year. We are really looking forward to being part of their 40th anniversary year and building a great partnership during their exciting concert season.”
