Psychic Evening Boosts Funds for The Wednesday Club

15th September 16

A fundraising evening with psychic Samanda has raised £307 for The Wednesday Club in Scratby, near Great Yarmouth which supports those affected with dementia.

The event, on Friday 9 September, proved very popular with Samanda giving readings throughout the evening at All Saints Parish Hall, Scratby.

The Wednesday Club is a social gathering for anyone wishing to share experiences and support those living with dementia and their family carers. It is run by Carers Trust Norfolk who a year ago took over running the club and other services in the county formerly provided by Crossroads Care East Anglia.

Michelle Kirk, Family Care Manager for North and South East Norfolk who organised the evening, thanked everyone who helped make it a success.

“Samanda proved very popular and the evening was a great way to celebrate the success of Carers Trust Norfolk’s first anniversary.  I would particularly like to thank Anglia Smartphones, Tesco Great Yarmouth, Sealife Centre Great Yarmouth and Co-op Funeral Care in Lowestoft, as well as our supporters from The Wednesday Club for their generous raffle donations.

“The group started in 2006 and has two long standing members of nearly ten years who lost their loved one to dementia during that time, but still attend the group because of the support they are given by everyone at The Wednesday Club. A two-course hot meal is provided and outings are held throughout the year.

“We now have vacancies at the club and always welcome new volunteers. I would love to hear from anyone who would like to join or can help. We meet 11am – 3pm every Wednesday 11-3 at All Saint Parish Hall, Scratby.”
