The Mayor came along to the latest carerMayor of Ely Cllr Rebecca Denness sat at a tables’ hub session after being invited by Caring Together Charity Carer Council member Ian Hitch, who volunteers at the Ely group.

She spent the session chatting to carers as they shared their experiences of caring for family members or friends who have long-term illnesses and conditions or disabilities.

It follows on from Cllr Denness attending the charity’s Kerry Care Awards ceremony at Ely City Golf Club last month.

The awards celebrated Caring Together Charity care professionals who have gone above and beyond in their work roles and honoured the memory of Kerry Giles-Brown, a dedicated and much-loved care team member from Littleport who sadly died of cancer in 2024 after working for the charity for more than 30 years.

Caring Together Charity supports unpaid carers across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk through many different services, such as the carers’ hub in Ely, which takes place at the Paradise Centre on the first Thursday of every month from 10.30am-12.30pm.
