Caring Together Charity awarded major grant to support Norfolk carers with household finances

29th October 26

Caring Together Charity has been awarded almost £200,000 for a new service supporting unpaid carers with their household finances in Norfolk.

Norfolk County Council has allocated the grant to Caring Together Charity from its Crisis and Resilience Fund, which is funded by the UK government.

The funding will be used to set up and run Money to Care, a project benefitting unpaid carers in the county who are struggling with money worries, debt, benefits, employment challenges, and/or rising living costs.

A new service for carers will be established, delivering specialist advice and help directly within local community locations, such as GP surgeries, libraries, and other community organisations.

Caring Together Charity Chief Executive Miriam Martin said: “We are extremely grateful to Norfolk County Council for providing their backing for our new Money to Care scheme through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

“Money to Care will help carers in Norfolk, who are at risk of poverty and debt, to have increased income to manage day to day, fewer financial worries, and to feel better supported as they care for someone.

“By identifying money issues early on, it will prevent financial crises for carers, and improve their wellbeing. Unpaid carers can often face having lower incomes but higher costs because they are looking after someone with a health problem.

“Thanks to this grant and the support of Norfolk County Council, we will be able to provide much-needed practical support that will really make a difference.”
