New Norfolk office official opening

10th December 25

We were delighted to welcome Mayor of Swaffham Cllr Lindsay Beech to officially open Caring Together Charity’s new Norfolk base.

Cllr Beech cut the ribbon at our new office in Turbine Way, Swaffham, following a speech from CEO Miriam Martin, outlining the importance of the charity’s work, including her experiences of being an unpaid carer, and thanking staff, volunteers and supporters for their efforts.

The ceremony formed part of a successful open event where we welcomed representatives from Norfolk County Council, Broadland District Council, Bridges Outcomes Partnerships, Tesco Swaffham, Waitrose Swaffham, Mid Norfolk Mencap, Swaffham & District Mental Health Association, Fountain of Life, Home-Start UK Norfolk, Swaffham & Litcham Home Hospice Support, Ceres Masonic Lodge Swaffham, Swaffham Well Family Service and NFU Mutual.

We hope that these new connections will help expand awareness of, and support for, our work in Swaffham and across Norfolk as we support families and couples struggling with disability and serious illness.

There are more than 81,500 unpaid carers in Norfolk who are supporting a family member, partner or spouse who cannot cope without their support due to poor health. Many of these unpaid carers are on duty providing care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will be providing a range of support including helping a loved one get washed and dressed, feeding them, taking them to medical appointments, clearing up and laundry when someone is incontinent, and trying to get the right NHS support for them.

Our new office will serve as a central hub for our growing operations in the region, focusing on offering high-quality homecare to individuals and families, breaks for unpaid carers, befriending support, counselling for family members, advice on managing money and energy costs, and awareness-raising with health professionals.

In Norfolk, we also support children and young people who have a caring role at home with get-togethers and fun activities to give them a break from caring. We deliver part of the Carers Matter Norfolk service.

We are keen to partner with voluntary and community organisations, health professionals, schools and businesses across Norfolk to make sure people know about the support available to them.
