Family Carers Celebrate Carers Week

31st May 17

Carers Picnic, Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon

Media invited to attend: 11am-3pm, Saturday, 17 June 2017

Family carers have a chance to put themselves first for once and join in a host of fun events throughout Cambridgeshire to mark national Carers Week, 12-18 June.

Three hundred carers have booked up for our annual family picnic at Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon on Saturday 17 June where wacky races, a barbecue and photo booth are some of the attractions during the afternoon.  Our volunteers have also been invited as a “thank you” for the terrific work they do supporting family carers.

The picnic is one of the highlights planned by Carers Trust Cambridgeshire, and more than 50 events are planned, many organised by social care charities, community groups and organisations that support carers. Other highlights include a trip to the seaside at Sheringham in Norfolk for the day, a dedicated church service for carers, a tea party and guided tour of Cambridge Botanical Gardens.
