In line with national guidance, appointments for COVID-19 vaccination are now being offered to eligible carers identified within cohort 6 by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). The JCVI defines carer eligibility as “Anyone who is the sole or primary carer of an older or disabled person who is clinically vulnerable to COVID-19”.
Carers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
If you are already registered as a carer on your GP Practice record, then you do not have to do anything. You will be contacted when it is your turn to book an appointment to have your vaccination.
If you are not yet registered as a carer on your GP Practice record, you need to either be in receipt of a Carer’s Allowance, and/or be the sole or primary carer of an elderly or disabled person who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable.
If you meet these criteria, then please contact your GP to ask them to update your record. You will then be contacted when it is your turn to book an appointment to have your vaccination.
Please note: you will need to be aged 16 or over for the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, or 18 or over for the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine, to receive a vaccination.

Carers in Norfolk
Those registered as a carer with their GP practice or in receipt of regular carers allowance payments should automatically receive an invite and do not need to do the below.
The NHS, county councils and carer organisations are working together to identify carers who may not be registered or known to their GP practice or local council services.
Those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person but do not receive a carer allowance or related benefits are unlikely to be known to their local authority. And those who have not notified their GP of their caring responsibilities will not be flagged as a carer on their GP record.
Eligible carers of an elderly or disabled person can register themselves as a carer. The easiest way to do this is online at: apps.norfolk.gov.uk/carervax
A 24/7 telephone voicemail service is available for people to leave their contact details, but only for those unable to register online 01603 257 256.
