Community alarms can be rented from one of the local providers listed below.

The basic set-up comprises a pendant button which when pressed activates a speech unit that contacts a control centre via the phone line. The control centres monitor calls 24/7 and are able to offer reassurance and instigate an appropriate response as needed. A community alarm can be linked to telecare sensors within the home provided by Technology Enabled Care Services following an assessment of need. Sensors can include smoke, gas, falls, movement, room temperature, bed or chair occupancy and door opening.

Other local and national community alarm providers are available but additional monitoring charges may be applied for additional telecare sensors and detectors and they may not have a response service in Cambridgeshire.
